About the Role:


As the Category Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of specific product categories within the European market and potentially contributing to global strategies. You will be the expert on product data, market trends, and competitive landscapes for your assigned categories, using these insights to develop and execute strategic initiatives. Your ability to analyze complex data, collaborate cross-functionally, and translate market understanding into actionable plans will be critical to achieving our business objectives.

 

Responsibilities:


Product Data Management & Analysis:

 

·      Become the central point of contact and expert for all product-related data within assigned categories.

·      Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across all relevant systems.

·      Conduct in-depth analysis of product performance, sales trends, customer feedback, and market dynamics to identify opportunities and challenges.

·      Develop and maintain comprehensive product category reports and dashboards for global stakeholders.

·      Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product performance and provide actionable insights for improvement.

 

Category Strategy & Development:

 

·      Develop and implement strategic plans for assigned product categories in alignment with overall business goals and market opportunities.

·      Identify new product opportunities, market gaps, and potential product enhancements based on data analysis and market research.

·      Collaborate with business development teams to define product specifications, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans for new and existing products.

·      Monitor market activities and develop effective counter-strategies.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration:

 

·      Work closely with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure effective product launches, promotions, and inventory management.

·      Communicate effectively with the operations – and Business Development Team in Germany and other relevant stakeholders on category performance, initiatives and challenges.

·      Collaborate with global category teams (if applicable) to share best practices and align on global strategies.

 

Market Understanding:

 

·      Stay abreast of industry trends, consumer behavior, and technological advancements within assigned product categories in the market.

·      Conduct market research and analysis to understand customer needs and preferences.

·      Provide insights and recommendations based on market understanding to inform product and business decisions.

 

Qualifications:

 

·      Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).

·      Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in category management, product management, business analysis, or a related role, preferably within the European market.

·      Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data to drive strategic decisions.

·      Excellent proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, business intelligence software).

·      Solid understanding of product lifecycles, marketing principles, and sales processes.

·      Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across different cultures and time zones.

·      Strong project management and organizational skills.

·      Ability to work independently and proactively.

·      Fluency in English is essential. German language skills are an advantage.
